BMW M5 E39 (2000) with a Bargain Starting Price — Don’t Miss This Classic

Right now, I just spotted a fresh auction on Bring a Trailer — a BMW M5 E39… listed at only $6,000. That’s almost ridiculous, considering what this car is worth today and how much it will be in a few years.

No doubt about it: in the next 10 years, the E39 M5 will be a true classic. Sure, the M5 F90 has McLaren F1-level performance — I’ve driven it, and it blows your mind. But… the spirit of the E39, with that engine that was absolutely destructive in its time, is unmatched.

For context: the Mercedes E50 AMG had over 50 horsepower less and couldn’t keep up. The E39 M5 would easily hit 300 km/h (186 mph) in top gear, full throttle. With this car, BMW proved that a sporty, admittedly heavy, sedan could confidently outrun a Porsche, or even a Ferrari. Back when it came out, it was the undisputed king of fast sedans.

And let’s not forget one thing — it has a naturally aspirated V8 that sounds exactly how it should. Nothing beats that sound for true car enthusiasts.

Honestly, I’ll always be biased — to me, this is one of the best cars in history, and arguably one of the best-looking.
