For years the Ferrari Testarossa was treated as a symbol first and a serious collector car second. That distinction is disappearing.
The styling is unmistakable, but the engineering matters just as much: twelve cylinders, manual gearbox, huge road presence and a driving experience that is completely different from a modern supercar.
The market now understands that the Testarossa represents an era Ferrari will never recreate. The challenge is condition. Deferred maintenance, poor storage and cosmetic shortcuts can turn a tempting car into a very expensive project.
Originality is becoming more important too. Correct wheels, interior, paint colours and documentation all help separate the strongest cars.
My view: the Testarossa is no longer just a nostalgia purchase. It is a proper collector car, but only the right example deserves collector-car money.
